The Maze Of Life

Have you ever tried to do a maze puzzle? It’s one of those puzzles where you go in one end and try to find the way out. You go one way, only to find a dead end, so you try another, sometimes backtracking in an effort find the correct route. There’s only one way through the maze, and you have to try every option available. Well, here you are, in this “maze” of life, seeking the source of true contentment and happiness. You’ve already tried other routes, all of which ended with disappointment and a dead end. “Another route,” you say to yourself, “I’ll try another way!” The way of material things – “If I can only buy that new car, dress, suit, boat, etc., then I’ll be satisfied.” And so you did, but only to find another dead end. Other routes? Yes, you’ve tried them all; the route of new job, new town, new friends, new hobby, new entertainment, new this, and new that. You even went so far as to try the route of “church” or “religion,” but that didn’t work either. The maze of life – there’s only one route or path through it that leads to contentment and happiness. Want to know what it is, the solution to the maze? OK, here it is: Restlessness is the root cause of not being content and happy, and people are restless because they are not at peace with themselves nor with God. When people are at peace with God, they’ll be at peace with themselves and with one another. They will have the contentment and happiness that eludes them. So, then, if you want to have true contentment and happiness, you have to have peace with God. Here’s why. All of us are born with a sinful nature that we inherited from Adam and Eve.

Genesis 3; Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

It is because of that sin nature that we commit the acts of sin.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Romans 3:10-12 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Our sins have separated us from God.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

The only remedy for this situation is to be found in the cross – the work of Jesus Christ. Like the maze, there is only one way, and Jesus Christ is it: “Jesus saith …, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

Jesus Christ is God the Son.

I John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus paid our sin debt when He shed His blood and died on the cross of Calvary.                                1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.                    1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

The punishment that we deserved was laid on Him, our sin-substitute. This very same Jesus, having died on our behalf, was bodily raised by the power of God three days later for our justification.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Today, as you read these lines, He is in Heaven at the right hand of God the Father interceding on our behalf.

Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Jesus Christ has done all that He could possibly do for us – now it’s up to each individual to accept or reject Him. To reject Him means eternal damnation in hell. To receive Him means not only the forgiveness of sin and eternity in Heaven with Him; but also the peace, contentment, and happiness that so many look for but never find. Salvation is a free gift, but to have it, you must repent of your sin, seek God’s forgiveness, and by faith alone in His sacrifice at the cross, receive Him as your  personal Saviour. Will you do that right now? See yourself as a lost sinner, pray and ask God to forgive you, to come into your heart, and save you. He’s never rejected anyone.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Those who do believe on Him are assured of their salvation.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
